Creators
Alan Jay Lerner (book writer and lyricist) and Frederick Loewe (composer) wrote some of the American theater’s most memorable musicals, including My Fair Lady, Camelot, Brigadoon, Paint Your Wagon and Gigi. Among their most famous songs are ”Almost Like Being in Love,” ”I Could Have Danced All Night’’ and ”Thank Heaven for Little Girls.” Lerner was born in New York City in 1918 and attended Choate and Harvard. Loewe was born in Berlin in 1901 to Viennese parents, made his piano debut with the Berlin Symphony Orchestra at the age of 13 and came to the United States in 1924. The two met in 1942 at the Lambs Club in New York City when Loewe approached Lerner about collaborating on a show. In 1947, they had their first Broadway hit, Brigadoon, followed in 1951 by a second success with Paint Your Wagon which included such songs as “They Call The Wind Maria,” “I Talk to the Trees” and “Wand’rin’ Star.” In 1956, My Fair Lady, with Rex Harrison and Julie Andrews, opened on Broadway. Often called the “perfect musical,” the show ran for 2,717 performances and the cast album sold more than five million copies. Their 1958 film musical, Gigi, won nine Academy awards and, in 1960, came the last great success of their partnership, Camelot, starring Richard Burton and Julie Andrews. In 1974, Lerner lured Loewe out of retirement to work on their last venture together: a film version of Antoine de St Exupéry’s The Little Prince. Lerner went on to collaborate with other composers including Burton Lane, Leonard Bernstein, and Andre Previn. He died in 1986 at the age of 67. Loewe died two years later at the age of 86.

Creators
Jimmy Buffett (Music and Lyrics) was a singer/songwriter/author who became a legend of popular culture as the composer of such classic songs as Margaritaville, Come Monday and Cheeseburger in Paradise. He recorded over 50 albums, most of which have gone gold, platinum, or multi-platinum. His sold-out concert tours were an annual rite of summer passage for his legions of fans, affectionately known as Parrot Heads, many of whom are professionals by day and who dress in spectacular and outrageous tropical outfits and headwear when Jimmy came to town. Born in the Gulf Coast town of Pascagoula, Mississippi, he was raised in Mobile, Alabama. He was a fourth-generation sailor and fisherman, a pilot, a surfer and a frequent traveler to remote and exotic places of the world, having become addicted to National Geographic magazine as a child. The lyrics to many of his songs are influenced by his travels all over the globe. As a best-selling author, he was one of only nine authors in the history of The New York Times Bestseller List to have reached #1 on both their fiction and non-fiction lists. Jimmy received two Grammy® nominations, numerous Country Music Association awards and was the recipient of one of the nation’s highest songwriting honors when he was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame. His song Margaritaville was inducted into the 2016 Grammy® Hall of Fame for its cultural and historic significance. Only those recordings that have influenced and inspired both music creators and fans for generations are considered for this most special honor. Sadly, Jimmy passed away on September 1, 2023 at the age of 76, from complications arising from Merkel cell skin cancer.
Greg Garcia (Co-Book Writer) created three back-to-back syndicated comedies: “Yes, Dear”, “My Name is Earl” and “Raising Hope”. For his work on these shows he has received a Humanitas Award, a People’s Choice Award, two GLAAD Awards, a Critics’ Choice Award, a Golden Globe nomination and an Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series. His latest show, “The Guest Book”, airs on TBS. Garcia’s main motivation for entering the world of musical theatre was the hope his oldest son Camden, a very talented actor and director (and SALT Award winning CRT Performing Intern in 2018) would think he was cool. But also, to entertain his parents, Natalie and Tom Garcia, who would drag him kicking and screaming to the theatre as a child. When he’s not writing, directing, and producing TV shows, he likes to watch his son Nathan play hockey, play board games with his son Trace and walk Mabel the dog with his amazing wife Kim.
Mike O’Malley (Co-Book Writer) is the creator of the award-winning television series “Survivor’s Remorse” on Starz. He also wrote on Showtime’s “Shameless” for the first four seasons. As an actor, he was nominated for an Emmy for his portrayal of Burt Hummel on “Glee” and recently appeared in the films “Sully” and “Concussion”. Television acting credits include “Yes, Dear,” “Justified,” “My Own Worst Enemy,” “My Name is Earl,” “Welcome to the Family” and “The Mike O’Malley Show.” Film acting credits include “28 Days”, “Deep Impact”, “Cedar Rapids”, “Eat Pray Love” and “Meet Dave”. Way back when, he hosted the Nickelodeon shows “Get the Picture” and “Guts.” He is the author of two plays that have been published by Samuel French: Three Years from Thirty and Diverting Devotion. His play Searching for Certainty was adapted into the film “Certainty”, which won the Best Screenplay award at the Boston Film Festival. Born in Boston and raised in New Hampshire, Mr. O’Malley resides in Los Angeles with his wife Lisa and their three children.

Knott earned a law degree from Cambridge University after attending Oundle School and served in the British Army from 1939 to 1946, achieving the rank of major. Knott only wrote three plays during his lifetime, yet his spine-tingling thrillers ran successfully on Broadway in the 1950s and 1960s and have been standards in regional theatre and touring productions throughout the world. His most famous script, Dial M For Murder, is about a man who plots the murder of his wealthy wife but has to improvise once she staves off his plan and was rejected several times before playing successfully on British television in the early 1950s. It then hit the London stage to rave reviews. In 1952 the play opened on Broadway, and in 1954 was adapted by Knott into a film directed by Alfred Hitchcock, starring Grace Kelly and Ray Milland. His second most popular play, Wait Until Dark, ran for 374 performances on Broadway in 1966 and earned actress Lee Remick a Tony Award nomination. In 1967 the play was made into a popular film of the same name starring Alan Arkin and Audrey Hepburn. It was revived on Broadway in 1998 in a production starring Marisa Tomei and Quentin Tarantino. His third play, Write Me a Murder, opened on Broadway in 1961 and ran for twenty-five weeks. Fredrick Knott passed away in 2002.
